Using exotic video footage from around the globe, this eye-catching video involves students in an exploration of how all animals are different. The program incorporates two likeable young hosts who help viewers investigate many of the characteristics that separate animals into different groups, such as vertebrates and invertebrates. Many types of animals are examined: sponges, worms, mollusks, insects, fish, birds, mammals, reptiles and more. The narrators use familiar examples to help students appreciate the reasons why scientists classify animals into different categories. The video concludes with an Animal Kingdom Challenge game in which viewers are asked to identify several mystery animals based on their distinctive characteristics. Exploring the Animal Kingdom helps viewers to understand their unique place among living things. The accompanying Teacher's Resource Book provides follow-up activities to further students' understanding and appreciation of the animal kingdom.
