This 4-part Canadian-produced series provides a colourful, diverse and detailed examination of the history, geography, geology and economy of the province of Ontario. Each of the four episodes takes place in a particular part of the province, yet each provides a broader look at Ontario’s story. From the early migration of the First Nations people to the arrival of French and English explorers to the others who arrived here to take advantage of Free-Land Grants, these programs will provide Ontario students with a broad knowledge of their province. Ontario is documented as never before using archival films and photographs, re-enactments of historical events, and interviews with local historians. Examine this land carved by its geography and geology and settled by a rich and diverse group of people. Witness how its geography and settlement had a profound effect on its industry and economy.
There are approximately 130 five to twelve minute segments in this series. These segments are currently being correlated to Ontario elementary and secondary curriculum documents in the following areas: Social Studies, History, Geography, Native Studies and Science. Individual grade and subject specific streaming packages will soon be available.
